Wand Ceremony Women could have real power in the Viking Age. This is a modern reconstruction of a ceremony rod found in a rich and powerful woman's tomb on the island of Öland. The rod was a symbol of power and those who carried it certainly played a large part in the religious cult. In the grave were the remains of a ship, the bones of many sacrificed animals, valuable jewelry and precious objects imported from distant lands.
